Betsy Ross has the speed and talent to win a ton of money in the barrel pen. Betsy Ross stands tied for hours, she loads, she is good with baths; easy to catch and saddle; works well in round pen and off a lunge line; and picks up her feet. We have started Betsy Ross correctly and she is ready for barrel training.
Because Betsy Ross is so darn full of energy, she will take an experience rider to take her to the next level. Do not read this as she is mean or bad natured – she is NOT. Her issue — she can be fearful and when she gets scared she can be a handful and will take a patent trainer and rider.
Casper May, our colt starter and champion roper, said she reminded him of Dual Rey in that you can feel their energy just sitting on her. Oh, I might mention, my 72 YO wife has been working and riding her (see video) – I reckon you can too.
In addition to her potential in the barrel pen, her pedigree makes her an excellent brood mare candidate. Her sire Jet Black Patriot daughters have produced winners of major G1 futurities and derbies. She would make an excellent cross Sun Frost, Frenchman’s Guy, Firewater Flit breed stallions, or performance stallions. Jet Black Patriot sire stats.
Betsy Ross is up to date on vaccinations, worming, and has a clean and current Coggins. Betsy Ross was bred and foaled as part of the New Mexico Bred program. It was our intention to put her in the New Mexico Bred yearling sale. However, due to unforeseen conditions unrelated to Betsy Ross she missed the sale. Because we are barrel race and not race track folk, we decided she would have a happier life in the barrel pen. As a JBP baby she is eligible for few incentives but not paid up in any.
We have priced Betsy Ross to move – she is worth more than her asking price. Thanks for your interest.
